Oregon bans aerial spray 60 feet from drinking water sources. Our neighbor Washington requires a 200 foot buffer for 1/2 mile upstream. Washington bans chemicals such as atrazine, metolachlor, and hexazinone and requires a review of vulnerable groundwater areas. In short, a timber company in Oregon can aerial spray the endocrine disrupter glyphosate and 2,4-D (an ingredient in Agent Orange) just 60 feet from drinking water sources. And oh BTW, this spray can drift up to four miles. Timber companies are supported in this by Oregon’s euphemistic legislation called the Right to Farm and Forest.
